AZL GmbH operates an innovative network of carrier-agnostic parcel lockers under the DeinFach brand. The company fundamentally modernized its IT landscape to meet future digital requirements in a flexible and secure manner. The goal was to build an independent cloud platform operated by Telekom MMS that efficiently supports development and operations processes. Particular focus was placed on scalability, security, and long-term cost efficiency.

Requirement Security, scalability, and efficiency
AZL GmbH faced the challenge of building a modern cloud platform that would meet stringent security and compliance requirements while remaining feasible for a small project team. The objective was to develop an independent cloud environment that efficiently supports the entire application lifecycle — from development and testing through to production operations.
At the same time, existing IT processes, architecture, and business requirements had to be comprehensively analyzed and translated into a scalable target architecture.
The key challenge was to find an approach that met the high requirements of parent company Deutsche Post while being tailored to the workflows of the start-up AZL GmbH. The platform also needed to enable future digital development, respond flexibly to growing requirements, and sustainably relieve the workload on IT teams.
Solution Tailored Azure platform for development and operations
Together with Telekom MMS, AZL GmbH developed an Azure-based cloud platform structured into non-production and production environments. Based on existing requirements, the architecture was designed to ensure that data protection and compliance guidelines can be always met.
A multi-stage approach included the design, setup, and piloting of the non-production infrastructure, followed by the implementation of the production systems. In parallel, applications were migrated step by step and automated processes for build, test, and deployment were implemented.
Telekom MMS provides key managed services for AZL GmbH to ensure stable platform operations. These include, among other things, connecting the cloud to the existing network, the structured setup of a new workspace, and the central management of users and access rights. In addition, Telekom MMS ensures compliant operation of the platform through clearly defined security and compliance guidelines.
