Requirements Security assessment of the digital product portfolio

HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH faced the challenge of enhancing the security of its products with digital components in accordance with the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The goal was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing product portfolio, identify security vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with the new regulatory standards. Both development and operational processes were to be evaluated to prevent misuse or incorrect application of the technology by users. External expertise was needed to efficiently and practically implement the complex requirements.

Solution Comprehensive CRA security assessment with a qualified action plan

As general contractor, Telekom MMS took charge of conducting the CRA security assessment. The evaluation included low-level sensor/actuator systems (embedded systems), PLCs, desktop applications (Windows), and cloud systems.

Based on the results of the test series and risk analyses, the security experts provided concrete action recommendations and prepared a qualified action plan to fully meet the criteria for secure products: security in development and operations, vulnerability and incident management, and comprehensive technical documentation. Additionally, the hardening of base images was performed.

Benefits Sustainable enhancement of the security level of digital products

Through close collaboration with Telekom MMS, HIGHVOLT was able to specifically identify potential for CRA compliance and implement the corresponding measures. Product security now benefits from a clearer structure and higher priority, as does documentation.

The technical security level of HIGHVOLT’s products has been significantly increased—resulting in enhanced security for customers and greater competitiveness for HIGHVOLT in the market for digital testing technology.

The structured approach and practical recommendations provided by Telekom MMS ensured the efficient and seamless implementation of the regulatory requirements.

HIGHVOLT designs and manufactures high-voltage and high-current testing systems for the global market.
