Customized AI – UKA Business GPT

More about the project

Secure Use GPT for In-House Applications

Since the availability of freely accessible generative AI chatbots, there has been a great temptation to generate a text or summary in the workplace. But be careful: in companies, the data entered ends up in a publicly accessible data pool, which is a delicate matter. The UKA Group, one of the leading developers of renewable energy projects, is aware of this danger. To make their business processes more efficient, UKA has been transforming the work environment of its globally operating employees for several years now – with the support of Telekom MMS.

As the first customer of the Business GPT product, the company is now also using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the form of its own internal chatbot.

Requirements

KI sicher und effizient im Arbeitsalltag nutzen

After Telekom implemented Microsoft Office 365 and the Azure Cloud at UKA, the company is now taking the next step in using collaborative digital work tools - Business GPT, based on the software architecture of OpenAI. The chatbot with a neural network model has a lot of potential: as a virtual assistant, it is designed to facilitate time-consuming processes, such as searching for specific information in data and documents, and also to assist in creating texts. The AI solution is expected to consolidate and summarize unstructured, extensive texts more quickly in the future, significantly reducing the manual evaluation effort.

For the international energy park developer, integrating various languages into cross-lingual dialogues is also a great advantage. Additionally, generative AI should facilitate quality control of texts and correspondence, as well as provide new ideas for collaboration.

It is very important for UKA to know that the integration of their internal sources into an AI model is in good hands, due to the sensitivity of the company's data and for the purpose of quality assurance. It is also important for UKA to be able to review the content generated by AI and to avoid reusing internal data for training purposes. Additionally, the company wants to test and evaluate use cases first before investing in high license costs and corresponding IT infrastructure and staff training.

Solution

SaaS-Based AI Model – Connected to the Microsoft Azure Cloud

The AI models currently available on the market are not yet able to offer a complete package of data security, support, and add-on functionality, which is why the development of the Business GPT product comes at the right time. The SaaS solution from Deutsche Telekom is based on the latest language models from OpenAI, which means it is up to date with training from March 2023. Telekom uses the GPT license independently of the internet within its own instance and can train the model based on the provided customer data.

For pilot customer UKA, Telekom MMS developed the AI model UKA GPT based on GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 as an individual enterprise application, which is hosted exclusively on a privacy and security (PSA)-certified platform in Europe. Special add-on: Through the Azure cloud, which Telekom configured and implemented for UKA, registered UKA employees can use Business GPT via identity and access management through their own intranet. With this cloud solution, they can enter requests, called prompts, as input in the company's internal user interface and receive corresponding information as output. Other add-ons that could become interesting in the future are, for example, chatting with your own documents to answer company-specific questions.

Benefits

Trustworthy Use of AI in a Business Environment

During a six-month test phase of the UKA GPT, selected employees of the company will have the opportunity to learn how to work with the AI model in a protected environment. Users can try out which use cases in their daily work bring the greatest support and time savings.

The usage costs of Business GPT are extremely transparent, as the interface is provided on a prepaid basis. Once the prepaid volume has been used up, Business GPT can be used again after recharging.

Data protection and security of Business GPT are ensured by decoupling from external data networks such as the Internet and by hosting in European data centers. This ensures secure and data protection-compliant use of the UKA GPT, without data leakage to unauthorized third parties.

The UKA Group itself contributes to an attractive and modern work environment with this innovative AI product. Additionally, their competitiveness increases due to increased speed and data-driven decisions.

For smooth operation, the UKA team from Telekom MMS is always on hand with quick troubleshooting, so that direct support is available for technical inquiries, error messages, or support requests.
